This summer I will be biking north from Antelope Wells, New Mexico to raise money for World Bicycle Relief, a non-profit social enterprise that provides life-changing bicycles to people in rural Africa and South America.

The Impact
Poverty, hunger, and lack of healthcare is exacerbated worldwide due to poor access to economic opportunity, markets, and hospitals. While a bicycle may seem like an inconsequential piece of equipment to some, it represents true life change for many people in rural developing settings. These bicycles let students, workers, farmers, and doctors travel longer distances in less time, which increases educational success, health outcomes, and family income.
What I love about World Bicycle Relief
I love how WBR does more than just give away bicycles. WBR creates an entire ecosystem to support their mission, including training local technicians to repair bicycles and helping start local bike shops to maintain a supply chain for bicycle parts.
This methodology not only empowers local communities to take control of their mobility, but it also increases the impact of their work by creating jobs and making it possible for 85% of their Buffalo Bicycles to still be in service after 1 year!
How YOU can get involved
You can support this mission in multiple ways.
I am collecting donations in 3 ways, as listed on my website. People can donate an amount per mile I bike, a flat amount, or they can try to place over/unders on how things will go for me on the trail, with a $10 dollar buy-in.
Another way to help out is to tell your friends! Repost my posts on Facebook, Instagram, or Linkedin. Take some over/unders with your family and see who wins! Tell people about WBR and my mission. I may be the one putting down the miles this summer, but that's just something to get the conversation rolling. The real change happens when people like you step up to join the cause.
